Many of Iceland’s most prominent fashion designers have established the Reykjavík Fashion Festival, which will take place in Iceland’s capital March 19-20, in cooperation with individuals from the music scene.

Ingibjörg Finnbogadóttir, the festival’s managing director, told Fréttabladid that it is important to restore the image of Icelandic fashion after the Iceland Fashion Week last year, which many attendees considered a fiasco.
“The group has been working on the festival since September and we have been very busy since,” Finnbogadóttir said. “Those involved have good connections in the fashion world, both in Iceland and abroad, which we intend to use to make this event grandiose.”
Organizers include E-Label, Nikita, Birna, Thelma-Design, Mundi Design and Faxaflói.
