Sports club KR from Vesturbærinn, the western part of Reykjavík, landed the 26th Icelandic Championship title in men’s football in the club’s history yesterday with a 2-1 victory over Valur, also from Reykjavík, in the latter club’s home field.

Meanwhile, Víkingur from Ólafsvík lost against Fylkir in Reykjavík suburb Árbær 1-2, which means that they’ve dropped out of Iceland’s top division, visir.is reports.
In women’s football, Stjarnan from Garðabær had already secured the Icelandic Championship title in August but accepted the trophy on September 15. The team won all of its games, according to ksi.is.
