Reykjavík City Employees to Use Eco-Friendly Cars

Mayor of Reykjavík Jón Gnarr switches his work vehicle to an environmentally-friendly car today. “I understand that this is a hydrogen vehicle and I want to set a good example by testing these cars and participating [in the use of alternative fuel],” he said.

“I find it very important that we, both the City and the Icelandic nation, participate in developing such vehicles and that we are participants, not just spectators. We absolutely have the opportunity to become a role model for other nations,” the mayor told Fréttabladid.

Other employees of Reykjavík City will also switch to environmentally-friendly cars today, which are being leased to the city. The vehicles that have been used by the city until now will be return once the new cars have been delivered.
