Police say they now know who the woman found dead in the sea in Reykjavík on Tuesday was.
The woman’s body was found by the Sólfari sculpture by Sæbraut on central Reykjavík’s northern shore on Tuesday.
A statement from the capital region police says that she was Icelandic, lived in Reykjavík and was in her 50s.
Vísir reports that police officers searched the Sæbraut coast yesterday for any missed clues that could help them identify the woman, but with no success, until an acquaintance called them, worrying about the woman’s absense.
Police call on anyone with information to make contact with the Reykjavik capital region police on +354 444 1000, though they are not treating the death as suspicious. It is believed the body was in the water for less than a day before it was discovered.
