Reykjavík Art Museum Presents D18 – Bjarni Massi

Bjarni massi (Bjarni Thór Sigurbjörnsson) is the 18th artist to exhibit in the D-Gallery at Hafnarhús, part of the Reykjavík Art Museum, intended for up-and-coming artists. His D18 exhibition opened on November 4.

“Allir um bord” (2010) by Bjarni massi.

The artist graduated from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2002. He has been active in the visual art scene both locally and abroad, directed short films and documentaries and designed sets for theatres, a press release states.

With the series of exhibitions in D-Gallery, which won the newspaper DV’s Culture Award last year, Reykjavík Art Museum brings attention to promising artists.

What all of these artists have in common is that none of them have had an exhibition in any of the major galleries in the country before and their works are specifically created for this space.

On November 21 at 3 pm the artist will discuss his work at Hafnarhús. The exhibition, which runs through January 9, 2011, is curated by Yean Fee Quay.
