The Reykjavík Art Festival begins in Iceland’s capital next week. It will run from May 12 to June 5. The festival’s program offers a variety of selected exhibitions, concerts, dance, theatre and opera performances.
Among the highlights is a concert with Amadou and Mariam, “the blind couple from Mali.”
Along with its focus on Icelandic culture past and present, the festival hosts many outstanding international artists and performers, as stated on visitreykjavik.is.
The festival has been one of the major events on Iceland’s cultural calendar since it was first held in 1970, bringing together the best in local and international theatre, dance, music and visual art.
