Reykjavík’s Rain Record Broken

This May is the rainiest on record for Reykjavík, RÚV reports. The previous record, set in 1989, was beaten this morning at 9:00. While in 1989, the city saw 126 millimetres of rain during the month, this year it has already seen 127.8mm.

Though residents of South and West Iceland are tired of the wet weather, those in the north and east of the country have been enjoying a much warmer and drier spring.

The month is not quite over yet, meaning Reykjavík still has a chance to increase its margin of victory. Readers may not be surprised that tomorrow’s forecast calls for more rain.
