Regulations on Eco-Friendly Agriculture Reviewed

By Iceland Review

The Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture will appoint a working group to revise regulations on eco-friendly agricultural production in Iceland after daily Fréttablaðið discovered that the industry was not being monitored.

According to the paper, eco-friendly farming in Iceland has not been monitored for 12 years because the ministry forgot to assign the task. Apart from no supervision of the producers there has also been no registry of who has been using the eco-labels.

While the investigation is being carried out, producers who had previously been certified can get confirmation that they meet the requirements.
