Record Participation in New Year’s Eve Run

By Iceland Review

Record participation is expected in ÍR’s (Reykjavík’s Sports Association’s) 40th New Year’s Eve Run, which will be held at noon today, RÚV reports. One thousand people have already registered for the event. The run begins at Harpa Concert Hall and participants will run a 10 km distance, first along Sæbraut to the east, taking a loop along the streets toward the ocean, and then back to Harpa.

To ensure the runners’ safety, the westbound lane of Sæbraut will be closed to motorized vehicles during the run, between Harpa and Holtavegur.
