In the first six months of this year, 311,000 tourists arrived in Iceland via Keflavík International Airport, a roughly 27 percent increase on the same period last year.

Tourists from the U.S. were the largest group, followed by those from Germany, the U.K., Norway and France, according to the latest figures from the Icelandic Tourist Board.

Nineteen cruise ships with a total of 27,000 passengers arrived in Reykjavík harbor last month. Meanwhile, three thousand tourists arrived in Iceland on the Norræna ferry, which docks at Seyðisfjörður, East Iceland. The remaining 90,000 tourists to visit Iceland in June arrived at Keflavík International Airport.
