Record Lamb Sales in Iceland

A record amount of lamb was sold in Iceland in October, according to Bændablaðið. Icelanders bought 1,210 tons, up 8.7 percent from October last year.

This is the highest amount of lamb sold in one month this century.

Sale of lamb has so far increased by 5.1 percent this year compared to the same period in 2012.

Lamb is the second most popular meat in Iceland, accounting for a 27.1 percent market share. Chicken is in top spot again with a 31.4 percent while pork is third with 22.4 percent, beef forth with 16.5 percent and finally horse meat with 2.9 percent.
