American duo Ratatat will play a concert at Broadway in Reykjavík on December 20, organized by event company Jón Jónsson on the occasion of the company’s first anniversary. Icelandic band FM Belfast will be the opening act.
Ratatat has played in Iceland before at Iceland Airwaves and their music was well received. This time will be no different as almost 2,000 tickets have already been sold and the duo has been booked to play at an extra concert for younger people the following day, according to a Jón Jónsson press release.
Ratatat is comprised of Mike Stroud and Evan Mast and their music is described as electro-rock. Many world-famous bands and musicians have included them in their tours, such as Björk, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol, Daftpunk, CSS, The Killers and Super Furry Animals.
Stroud and Mast met when they were both studying at Skidmore College in New York in 2001 and they recorded their first album on Mast’s laptop at his house. The album’s first single, “Seventeen Years,” became an instant hit.
Tickets are sold via midi.is and in Skífan record stores.
