“I’ll get to meet the old girl there. It isn’t every day you get the chance,” Lýdsson told Fréttabladid. According to the newspaper’s sources, no other Icelander has ever been presented with such an award. “It was always my goal,” Lýdsson said of the bronze.

The confectioner said he didn’t know what he should discuss with the queen and doesn’t know how much time he’ll have for conversation, adding that he would have been more excited about meeting Crown Princess Mary.

The queen will award a number of apprentices from various subjects at the occasion. Lýdsson also graduated as a chocolatier from EUC-Ringsted and is considering starting his own business in Denmark.
