A new poll conducted by Media and Market Research found that public trust in party chairpersons in Iceland is down with the exception of Best Party chair and Reykjavík Mayor Jón Gnarr. The poll, conducted February 25-28, found that 39.4 percent of respondents trusted Jón, compared to 35 percent in the last poll, conducted June 1, 2013.
Left-Green chairperson Katrín Jakobsdóttir is the most trusted with a 46.1 percent trust rating. While Katrín has the highest rating, this is down from 62.5 percent in the last poll in June.
Trust in Prime Minister and Progressive Party leader Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson dropped from 48.8 percent on June 1, 2013, shortly after the last elections, to 23.2 percent, which is similar to his trust rating of 28.2 percent one year ago.
The trust rating of Bright Future’s Guðmundur Steingrímsson saw the smallest change, from 27.8 percent on June 1, 2013 to 26.9 percent in the latest poll.
According to the poll, trust in President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson stands at 46.5 percent, down from 56.2 percent.
