Formal talks between the two parties on which issues to emphasize in the upcoming term began yesterday, reports.

In a press release from the Best Party and the Social Democrats it was announced that a time table has been made to organize the work ahead. “It was agreed that the work would take place during secret meetings,” the press release states.

“In light of experience and of new people taking a seat on the City Council, the Best Party and the Social Democrats are going to allow themselves some time for negotiations. They ask the media and the city’s inhabitants to give them space to put together a solid agenda on a better Reykjavík in the next four years.”

The Best Party, founded by comedian Jón Gnarr, received the most votes in Reykjavík in the municipal elections on Saturday. Gnarr has made a demand for the mayoral chair.
