This morning, the protest group Hraunavinir (‘Lava Friends’) posted signs in the lava, which state that a Swiss company, Marti Holding, is responsible for the construction of a controversial new road connecting Garðabær and Álftanes, mbl.is reports.
From the Facebook page of Hraunavinir.
ÍAV, the Icelandic contractor, is owned by the Swiss company, and with their signs, Hraunavinir want to underline that fact.
Not everyone agrees with Hraunavinir and others who wish to prevent the construction of the new road leading to Álftanes. For example, supporters of the new road have set up a Facebook page where the matter is discussed.
However, Gunnsteinn is not worried that public opinion will turn against the protesters, as they are simply upholding the law.
