Progressive Party MP Wants to Enter Government

MP for the Progressive Party Siv Fridleifsdóttir is keen on her party joining the Social Democrat-Left-Green coalition to reinforce it after the outcome of Saturday’s Icesave referendum.

“I would like to see the Progressive Party take the initiative now and simply enter the government to establish a community which can carry the state of chaos that has reigned here and eliminate the chaos. There are a few issues that need to be tackled and I believe the Progressive Party is in a key position to do so,” Fridleifsdóttir said on the morning program on RÚV’s Rás 2 radio.

Fridleifsdóttir believes Iceland’s international reputation needs to be strengthened, adding that the Progressive Party has a strong voice internationally.

Now Icelandic society has the chance to have the Progressive Party join the government to reinforce it and further certain issues; Icesave, first and foremost, along with employment issues but also to obtain political stability, she said.
