Today, the coalition government of the Independence Party and Progressive Party has 38 parliamentarians out of 63 at Alþingi, Iceland’s parliament.
According to the latest poll, published yesterday by daily Fréttablaðið and the television station Stöð 2 (Channel 2), only 40.7 percent now support the two government parties, only ten months after last election.
The government would lose 12 parliamentarians, and the majority at Alþingi.
Only 13.9 percent said in the poll that they would now vote for the Progressive Party, the party of PM Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson.
In last year’s elections the party got 24.4 percent of the votes.
The biggest winner, up ten percent from the 2013 general election is the new party Björt Framtíð (Bright Future), with 18.4 percent support, visir.is reports.
