US rock band FlowHead from Kenosha, Wisconsin, recently released their debut album. The band’s front man, T.R. Lansdown, was also a founding member of the band Fresh in Iceland in the mid 1970s.

According to Steinunn Seay, Lansdown’s daughter and co-owner of record label VikingDisc (her partner is her sister Stella Brennan), which is promoting FlowHead, Fresh was one of the top five groups touring in Iceland between 1975 and 1977.

Many of Iceland’s best known musicians at the time were members of Fresh, like saxophone player Rúnar Georgsson, keyboardist Magnús Kjartansson, bassist Finnbogi Kjartansson and drummer Jónas Björnsson.

Lansdown and his Icelandic wife, Ellagunna Jónsdóttir, moved to the US with their two daughters in 1983.

In 2004 Lansdown (left) founded FlowHead with his sons-in-law, Mark Seay (middle) and Kelly Brennan (right). Lansdown plays guitar and keyboard and is the band’s vocalist, while Brennan plays bass and Seay drums.

Their first original studio album, also called FlowHead, was released in December “and we are having a hard time finding negative comments,” Steinunn Seay stated.

In a review published in local newspaper Kenosha News from February 16, 2007, the band was called “the Funkiest Power Trio in Kenosha […] wound tighter than a Swiss timepiece.”

FlowHead is currently producing their first video and are working on their second album.
