The West Iceland District Court concluded that the former prison warden had abused his position after it was found that he had used prison funds to purchase products and services for his own personal use, ruv.is reports.
According to the court, the man has no previous convictions and has already repaid ISK 900,000 (USD 7,200, EUR 5,900) of the ISK 1.7 million (USD 13,600, EUR 11,200) of state money spent.
The court handed the convicted an eight month sentence, five of which are suspended.
