Price of Fireworks Unchanged in Iceland

The price of fireworks sold by search and rescue teams across Iceland (ICE-SAR) will be similar to what it has been in the past two years. However, between 2007 and 2008 the price increased considerably.

The fireworks sale, which is ICE-SAR’s most important fundraising initiative, begins on Wednesday (or today, according to Fréttabladid) and will continue until New Year’s Eve, Morgunbladid reports.

“We are of course unsure about how many fireworks will be sold but we sense that people are happy to support us,” Ólöf Snaehólm Baldursdóttir, information representative for ICE-SAR.

Common fireworks packages cost between ISK 7,000 and 15,000 (USD 60-129, EUR 46-98) but both smaller and larger packages are available.

According to Fréttabladid, mild weather is forecast for New Year’s Eve.
