President of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson is the most trusted on a list of politicians in Iceland, according to the latest MMR poll, published Friday. The poll found that 48.5 percent of Icelanders had “rather a lot/a lot” of trust in Ólafur Ragnar.
Chair of the Left-Greens Katrín Jakobsdóttir is the second most trusted politician with 46.7 percent and Reykjavík Mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson is third with 37 percent. Leader of the Pirate Party Birgitta Jónsdóttir is forth with 32.3 percent. She is the only individual on the list who has a higher trust rating now than in June 2013.
Prime Minister and chair of the Progressive Party Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson has a 17.5 percent trust rating and chair of the Independence Party, the Progressive Party’s coalition party, Bjarni Benediktsson, who is minister of finance, has 22.8 percent.
More people distrust than trust Birgitta, Sigmundur Davíð and Bjarni. A total of 37.2, 63.2 and 57.9 percent of respondents said they had “rather little/very little trust” in the individuals respectively.
