President of Iceland Meets Lithuanian President

President of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson met both the current President of Lithuania, Valdas Adamkus, and Dalia Grybauskatië, who was recently elected to succeed him, during an official visit to Lithuania yesterday.

During the meetings, Grímsson discussed Iceland’s potential membership to the European Union, the relations between the Baltic states and the Nordic countries and the impact of the crisis and the reactions to it in Iceland, among other topics, Fréttabladid reports.

Grybauskatië is familiar with Icelandic interests since she has decades of experience with leadership within the EU, according to the Icelandic presidential office. Adamkus accepted Grímsson’s offer to come to Iceland and give a public presentation.
