President of Iceland Inaugurated for Fifth Time

President of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson was inaugurated to the office of president for the fifth time yesterday. A group of people assembled on Austurvöllur square in central Reykjavík to listen to the president’s speech after the ceremony.

Ólafur Ragnar said that he is taking on the responsibilities of president again with humility and gratefulness, reports.

He praised the recent presidential election and the Constitution of Iceland, reasoning that the election bore evidence to democratic development and that the constitution had given the public the power to voice their opinion following the banking collapse.
