President of Iceland Attends Symposium in New York

President of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson and his spouse Dorrit Moussaieff are currently participating in the Clinton Global Initiative’s annual meeting, which is organized by former U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Ólafur Ragnar is one of the speakers at a special seminar on the use of clean energy, sustainability and economic development. According to mbl.is, he will also speak about how an economic crisis can lead to innovation and progress.

On Sunday, Iceland’s president took part in a debate on climate change and economic development at the New York Forum, held in the New York Public Library, and last week the presidential couple attended a convention in Aspen organized by TV show host Charlie Rose.

Ólafur Ragnar is also set to attend a meeting about the development of the Arctic regions and Iceland’s contribution to the use of clean energy in other parts of the world, as well as discussing the participation of several U.S. representatives in the Arctic Circle round table talks in Reykjavík next month.
