Iceland’s Ambassador to China Kristín Adalbjörg Árnadóttir handed over her letter of credence to President of China Hu Jintao in a meeting yesterday, four days after her arrival in the country. The president told her he was paying close attention to the economic situation in Iceland.

Árnadóttir and the president discussed cooperation between Iceland and China in the field of geothermal energy and the world exposition in Shanghai later this year, Fréttabladid reports.
The ambassador also recounted the economic situation in Iceland and the progress of Iceland’s economic stabilization program at the International Monetary Fund.
President Hu said he was certain that the Icelandic government would manage to solve the problems at hand.
