The designers.

The lecture is focused on sustainable design and the re-use of raw materials as well as ALT processes and product development. Labotek ///ALT/// is a design and innovation studio based in Malmö, Sweden.

Labotek ALT has received numerous awards over the past decade and recently the international Terre de Femme Award and Wallpaper Design Awards 2010 for best recycling design with the project ‘The Parquet’, a parquet made of several of the 250 million tires that are discarded in Europe each year.

The founders of ALT are Petra Lilja and Jenny Nordberg, both of whom are industrial designers working with sustainable design, environmental issues, consumption and communication.

The lecture is a collaboration between Iceland Design Center, the Reykjavík Art Museum, Iceland Academy of the Arts and Aurora Design Fund and is part of Ting, a Nordic festival in Reykjavík October 28 to November 7.
