A present from President of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson to former US First Lady Hillary Clinton, a glass sculpture the shape of an egg, was sold on eBay yesterday for USD 1,009.99 (EUR 748.82) after one week of being on auction.

Grímsson presented the sculpture, made by Icelandic artist Sigrún Bergvík, to Clinton in 1999 when she attended an international conference in Iceland, Morgunbladid reports.
Presidential secretary Örnólfur Thorsson said he cannot explain how the sculpture ended up on eBay. “We don’t follow objects or presents that come from the president of Iceland […]. However, we take good care of the presents that he receives.”
The person who offered the sculpture for sale claimed to have bought it in an auction in New York.
