Premiere of New Icelandic Comedy

A new Icelandic film, Brúdguminn (“The Groom”), by Baltasar Kormákur premiered at Háskólabíó cinema in Reykjavík last night. Many attended the premier, at least 1,000, which is how many the stalls seat.

A Morgunbladid reporter, who attended the premier, called the film a tragicomedy, which had the audience in tears when they weren’t laughing.

The lead is played by Hilmir Snaer Gudnason, who also starred in Baltasar Kormákur’s 101 Reykjavík (2000).
