Gunnar Thorsteinsson, director of the Christian denomination Krossinn, announced this week that he is leaving his position in light of accusations of sexual harassment by eight women in the congregation.

A board meeting was held at Krossinn on Monday, followed by a crowded sermon, where Thorsteinsson said he sensed a lot of support, visir.is reports.
In a statement he wrote, “In spite of your support I’ve decided to ask the board to relieve me of my duties as director, at least until this storm blows over.”
He explained that he had made the decision on his own after consulting with his wife and asked people to show him understanding.
