Power Company Sponsors Search and Rescue

Landsvirkjun, the National Power Company, donated ISK 500,000 (USD 3,900, EUR 2,900) to ICE-SAR, the umbrella association of the Icelandic search and rescue services, in the memory of Halldóra Benediktsdóttir, the woman who died after falling into a crevasse on Langjökull glacier on January 30. Her son, who also fell into the crevasse, was saved.

Benediktsdóttir was a formal employee of Landsvirkjun and her husband currently works there, visir.is reports.

CEO of Landsvirkjun Hördur Arnarsson and Sigthrúdur Gudmundsdóttir, the managing director of the company’s employee division, presented ICE-SAR with the donation yesterday.
