Portion of Fishing Quota Sold Away from Westfjords

After unconfirmed reports of a potential sale, Ríkisútvarpid radio has reported that the fish processing plant Kambur hf. in Flateyri, Westfjörds, has already sold a portion of its quota outside of the region.

Hinrik Kristjánsson, Director of Kambur, hopes that a portion of the company’s assets and quota remain in the north of the Westfjörds to ensure that the people of Flateyri can continue to work.

He considers it a prudent time for the local authorities to make prepare a plan of action for the region, though Kristjánsson does not expect much of a response from the authorities as the problem unfolds for the people of Flateyri.
