Leader of the Alliance Party Össur Skarphédinsson believes that the Left Green Party and the Alliance Party could unite into one strong party. He says that there’s perfect trust between the leaders of the two parties and that most of the political issues are the same.
The only disagreement is on joining the EU. Deputy party leader Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir agrees that the Alliance Party always wanted to unite left parties into one strong party. Skarphédinsson and Gísladóttir are now both running for party leader in the upcoming internal elections of the Alliance Party.
