Icelandic political parties hosted a meeting in the wake of the #metoo movement, RÚV reports. The meeting took place from 8:30-10:30 this morning at the Grand Hotel in Reykjavík.
The goal of the meeting was to discuss the next steps of #metoo within politics and answer the following questions:
-How can social organizations like political parties work towards minimizing the chances of any kind of harassment being tolerated?
-How should cases of harassment be dealt with within political parties?
The meeting’s opening address was delivered by Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir. The address was followed by speeches and a panel discussion featuring representatives from the Centre for Gender Equality, the Federation of Icelandic Artists, the National Power Company of Iceland and others.
Representatives from the People’s Front of Iceland, Bright Future, Dawn, the People’s Party, the Progressive Party, the Centre Party, the Pirate Party, the Social Democratic Alliance, the Independence Party, the Reform Party, and Left-Green Movement were present at the meeting.
