Polish cultural festival held in Iceland

A festival of Polish culture will be held in Iceland from 28 September to 1 October. This will be the most extensive presentation of Polish culture ever held in Iceland. Fréttabladid reports.

A large number of Polish nationals moved to Iceland in the early 1990s in search of higher wages and they are now the largest group of immigrants in Iceland. They are scattered throughout Iceland and the festival is intended to introduce to Icelanders the cultural milieu from which they come.

The National Power Company has signed an agreement with the Icelandic/Polish friendship association to provide financial backing for the festival.
