Policy Rates Still 15.50 Percent

The Icelandic Central Bank had decided to keep policy rates unchanged.

The Central Bank increased policy rates on April 10 by 0.50 percent following a 1.25 percent increase in March. The latter was the largest policy rate increase since the early 90s, when the foundations for current monetary policy were made.

The Central Bank’s decision is in line with the prediction of Kaupthing Bank’s analysis department. Glitnir Bank and Landsbanki Bank predicted an increase of 0.25 percent.

An online press conference will be held on the Central Bank’s website at 11pm tonight. The next date to decide policy rates is July 3.
