Police Urges Drivers to Keep Tanks Full

The Reykjavík police have asked the public to ensure that their vehicles contain sufficient gas at all times.

In the cold and snowy conditions the capital is currently faced with, cars’ mileage is very poor. Too often this week, cars have been coming to a stop with their tanks empty, blocking roads and making it dangerous for others.

It is dark, the roads are narrower with piles of snow on both sides, so please think and fill your tank, before you take a trip, says in a statement from the policeon Mbl.is.

The police will be towing stranded cars at the owners’ expense. The cost is higher than a full tank of gas.
