Police Officer caught smuggling snuff

A police officer at Keflavík Airport was caught in mid-December trying to smuggle 30 boxes of snuff into the country. The case is now being investigated by the police and will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for further handling.

Morgunbladid reports that the man was caught when Sheriff’s officials at the airport saw the man handle the smuggled goods. He was seen receiving them from a friend arriving in the country.

Snuff is illegal in Iceland, but fairly popular.
