A body of a woman was discovered last night inside a pigeon hut in Hafnarfjördur, a neighboring town of Reykjavík. There were marks on the body and a large team of police officers, detectives and forensic scientists were called out.
The owners of the pigeons found the body around 6 pm last night and notified police. Police fenced off a large area around the cluster of huts and at midnight nearly 20 officers were still at the scene, Morgunbladid reports.
Chief Constable at the Capital Region Police Fridrik Smári Björgvinsson said the cause of death is unclear. The investigation is in the initial stages and will continue.
It is also unclear for how long the body had been in the pigeon hut because the birds’ owners only feed them every other day.
