Police say the stolen campers are difficult to locate. They consider it likely that they are being re-sold in Iceland instead of being moved out of the country, although that is also a possibility, Morgunbladid reports.

According to the employees of Víkurverk, an agency for selling campers, there is currently great demand for used tent campers and tent trailers.

Purchasing power has decreased considerably and people are traveling more in Iceland than abroad following the economic crisis.

Police urge people to be on alert if they decide to purchase a used camper and make sure all documents are in order.
