In a post on her Facebook page yesterday, Former PM Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir (2009-2013) criticized Prime Minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson and Finance Minister Bjarni Benediktsson for having gone fishing without paying for a license at the opening day of the river Norðurá, in Borgarfjörður, West Iceland. The river is one of the most exclusive and expensive in Iceland.
“This is unbelievable. Can it be that salmon fishing corruption rising again? Do these men not have any moral sensibility?” she wrote.
According to the government’s protocol, ministers may not accept free invitations or trips from private persons or companies, unless it is part of the official work of the minister, visir.is reports.
