Plays by Single Mothers Premiere Tomorrow

Two new plays premiere at the Reykjavík City Theater tomorrow, which were written by 18 single mothers after attending a creative writing course by author Audur Jónsdóttir at Kvennasmidjan in Reykjavík. Professional actors were cast in the plays.

“It is like The Full Monty except it’s just for the theater and no one takes their clothes off,” Jónsdóttir described to Fréttabladid.

Jónsdóttir said that she was blown away by the creative force of this group, describing the scripts as absolutely unique. “Many young writers would give their lefts hands to be able to write texts like these.”

Publishers should keep their eyes open, Jónsdóttir advised, pointing out that J.K. Rowling, one of the most successful authors of our time, was a single mother while writing the Harry Potter books.

The show beings at 11 am and everyone is welcome to the premiere.
