Pizza Hut Closes Restaurants in Iceland

The executives of Pizza Hut Iceland have decided to close its two restaurants in Reykjavík, at Sprengisandur and Hilton Hotel Nordica, but its outlet in the Smáralind shopping mall in Kópavogur will remain open.

A statement from the company reads that the reasons for this decision are the changed situation in society; a changed consumption pattern, coupled with the doubling of loans and increasing cost of ingredients, mbl.is reports.

Managing director of Pizza Hut Iceland Thórdís Lóa Thórhallsdóttir said it is obvious that families have less money to spend these days and therefore don’t go to restaurants as often as they used to.

Last year, all outlets of the international fast food chain McDonald’s closed in Iceland.
