A new poll shows the Pirate Party enjoying more support than any other in Iceland, or 28 percent, while the new party Viðreisn, (which roughly translates into Revival), takes a leap and measures with 8 percent support. Twelve percent of respondents said they’d support the Progressive party, which is a 3.6 percent increase from a similar poll, conducted in May, Eyjan reports.
Other parties lose support. Those who said they would vote for the Independence Party were 24 percent, or down by 4.3 percent since the last poll. The Left Green Movement receives 17 percent support. The Social Democratic Alliance gets 7 percent support, while Bright Future gets 4 percent.
The poll was conducted over the internet June 1-2 by the Social Science Research Institute of the University of Iceland. Two thousand people were contacted, 18 and older, all members of the institute’s internet panel, randomly selected through Registers Iceland. Respondents were 893, meaning the response rate was about 45 percent.
