Pipe Bomb Victim Dies

A 23-year-old man who was seriously injured in an explosion from a pipe bomb on January 19 died from his injuries on Thursday night last week. He lived with his parents in Hveragerdi, south Iceland, was unmarried and had no children.

The accident is still being investigated by the police in Selfoss. It is believed that the man was holding the bomb when it exploded, Morgunbladid reports.

The victim was taken via helicopter to the Landspítali hospital in Reykjavík. After surgery he was kept unconscious on a ventilator in the intensive care unit, where he passed away.

Another man in his early twenties, who was at the scene when the explosion occurred, did not suffer any injuries.
