The former chairman of Sjálfsbjörg, the association for disabled Icelanders, was attacked by a pickup truck driver because of a dispute over a parking space reports the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, RÚV.
Thórir Karl Jónasson, the former chairman of Sjálfsbjörg, told RÚV that the pick-up driver had parked in a disabled parking space without having the required permit, and therefore he had to park behind the pick-up, blocking its exit.
When Thórir came out of the store he was visiting and back to the parking space the driver assaulted him and then drove away. Thórir called the police, but the police told him that the department for filing charges had closed for the day and would not receive any new ones until the next morning. Thórir said that we was able to take down the pick-up license plate number and that he would file charges.
