Physicians Seek Work Abroad

According to Birna Jónsdóttir, chairman of The Icelandic Medical Association, the work effort of medical doctors in the Icelandic health care system has decreased. reports this today.

At the same time, ever more physicians seek additional work in other Nordic countries in order to increase their income, due to the crisis and the cutbacks that have ensued. Some of them have, since the economic collapse a year ago, even moved away from Iceland in the hope of new opportunities.

Jónsdóttir also told that in many cases doctors have moved away from Iceland in order to seek work opportunities elsewhere, due to the economical crisis.
