Photos from SEEDS Photo Marathon on Display

SEEDS (See Beyond Borders), an Icelandic NGO promoting cultural diversity and environment protection, opened an exhibition this week displaying the results of a photo marathon with international contestants in Reykjavík.

One of the main objectives of the project was to deliver strong messages on environmental and cultural topics and draw attention to the local population through pictures by SEEDS volunteers, as described in a press release.

Twenty-three volunteers from 14 countries participated in the project and before the marathon they attended a course in photography to improve their techniques. They were given a new theme to focus on every day, including water, pollution and human rights.

Their photographs will be on display in the Tjarnarsalur exhibition hall in Reykjavík City Hall for two weeks. Admission is free.

SEEDS organizes projects with international volunteers in Iceland and sends Icelandic volunteers to work on projects overseas in more than 80 different countries.

This year, roughly 400 volunteers participated in 30 different projects in Iceland on behalf of SEEDS related to festivals, arts, culture, sports and renovation work.
