Photos: Bird for a Million Winner Announced

The results of the photo competition Bird for a Million, held annually by behalf of Brimnes hotel and bungalows in Ólafsfjörður and Rauðka Ltd. in Siglufjörður. The winner was Erlendur Guðmundsson from Akureyri, who got the prize of ISK 1 million (USD 8,000, EUR 6,000).

The prize was awarded for the best bird picture taken on Tröllaskagi peninsula, Hrísey, Grímsey, Drangey and Málmey islands in North Iceland, with the competition running from May 14 to August 31 this year.

The purpose is to promote these areas to nature lovers and contribute to increased bird watching and bird photography in the North Iceland region, as stated in a press release.

Sigurður Ægisson from Siglufjörður placed second and Einar Guðmann from Akureyri placed third. Both of them won prizes at last year’s competition as well.
