Pest Controller with Flashlight Mistaken for Gunman

The special forces of the Capital Region Police were called to the Bústadarhverfi district in Reykjavík yesterday due to reports of a gunman. However, the “gunman” turned out to be a pest controller with a flashlight on the hunt for rats.

Gunshots and shouts were reported to have come from a house in the neighborhood and subsequently police arrested the couple who lived there and searched the premises, reports.

However, the couple was quickly released as this had all been a misunderstanding. According to Fréttabladid, the gunshots and shouts had probably come from the television.

A neighbor pointed out that the pest controller had been searching for rats in the neighborhood with a long black flashlight, and that he might have been the “armed” man police were notified of.
